I need recommendations for a company to move me from NJ to TN. I have been so screwed before (like the guy who refused to unload the truck unless I paid additional money--and this from one of those big-name companies!) so I'd really love to find a reliable, forthright company big or small that can help me out without leaving me broke. Am I dreaming? Help me out people!

We were moved from SW Va to here by Matrix. I think they are based in CT. We were absolutely delighted with their service from beginning to end, and I am happy to recommend them. It was a corporate move though so I can't help with prices.

Biquit,

I know it's not very timely, but when someone tried to do that to me when I moved to Hoboken, I pulled out my phone right in front of the guy and called the police. This is a well-known scam...

The guy grumbled about how *I* was cheating *him* but unleaded the truck. Then had the nerve to ask about a tip.

You might want to look into Mayflower. They're not cheap, but they've been reasonably reliable.

Thanks. I guess I should have done that. I was just so surprised...

Good for you Woodstock. I don't mind paying for a service but I just hate it when they change the price on you in the end.

Go to http://www.monstermoving.com. Enter info about your move and you'll get bids/info from different companies. We used them and hooked up with Hoffman Moving and Storage (Allied), and they were great.

Good luck

Grabel moved us in a relocation to this area. They were great for us. They are privately owned and move nationally and internationally. The packed/ stored and unpacked for us. No complaints about the service.

We had no problems with Allstate Movers for two moves (NY to NJ and one move within NJ).

If you're still looking...

try United Van Lines -- the local rep is :

http://www.libertytransport.com/

They moved me and my girlfriend (on separate trips) from CA to NJ. Good luck.
