We are going on a longish car trip and are thinking it might be less unpleasant if we mezmerise the kids with movies. Anyone know of a place around here where you can rent those protable DVD players with the litte screens? Thanks

There used to be a place in Penn Station (NY), and I know they are in Newark airport in the terminals.

But with the price of these units so low now (last week under $300 at Best Buy) -- a rental of more than just a few days might not be economical.

Do you have a laptop that you can put a DVD or DVD/RW drive in? Might cost about the same, and would be useful for other things, too.

Yes, I'm thinking about the same for the vacation drive in August!

Pete

Try inmotionpictures.com. They rent players and dvds and will ship directly to your home. We rented one for a flight to SF and then used it in the car when we were there. It was a lifesaver.

Holy cow! What's wrong with just making your kids sit there and learn how to be bored?! Sing songs? Car games? Books on tape are a good option. But really, TV in your car? That's a cryin shame.
