It's time for the annual car wash and I want to make it a family event. I've heard there's a car wash place nearby (Summit? Madison?) where we can stay in the car while it goes through the wash cycles - anyone know where it is?

There is a car detailing center on Freeman Street between Ridgewood and Scotland (Valley). You sit in your car and about a dozen guys give it the once over. You actually drive the car straight through. It does not pull you along. Each stop along the way takes about a minute. Once outside, you exit the car and they take care of the inside. Cost is about $12.

By the way, "Annual car wash".... you might need to drive around and have them hit it again.

There's a place out on Rt 22 East that runs a twilight special for about $6. If you go after 6pm on weekdays, you can ride in the car while soap is spewed and those big straps pound you. It's right before the Pet Store in Union. Look for the turquoise "Car Wash" sign.

The Jiffy Lube near Home Depot has a car wash that you can stay in your car for. I think it's $5.

I think you're talking about ProWash on Rt 22. You exit the vehicle and walk along side it behind a plexi wall. No wiggly thingies and squirters that you experience from inside the vehicle there.

Support the 4-H Seeing Eye Car Wash Saturday, June 28 from 10-3 at the South Orange Rescue Squad. I'm sure they'll let you stay in your car while it gets washed. They'll even have baked goods for sale!!

East Hanover Car Wash (not sure if that is the correct name ) on Route 10 West lets you stay in the car. We usually get the Managers special which includes some extra stuff, for $11.

us2 - If you go for the twilight special, after 6pm, you remain in the car. Before 6, everyone outta the car and behind the glass.
