We've used Ed Czuba a few times - (973)763-8414 in South Orange. Other people have said some very nice things about John James - (973)378-3118, but I somehow recall them saying they experienced a long wait.

I am using Amrarch Design (in Summit) to do a two story addition on my house. Ashraf is the architect. He came highly recommended from a few contractors that I know locally. Having a background in construction, I have found that it is always best to work with architects/contractors who have worked together. From experience, I have noticed that when they have a history together, there is less misunderstanding and costly mistakes. Ashraf's number is 908 598 0067. If you like him, he can recommend a few contractors who have had favorable posts on MOL.

Best of luck and get used to the plaster dust,
JML

I don't really recommend Wellisch architects (Mountainside, I think). They were recommended by my original contractor, but I found the plans added nothing at all to my own plans but cost. Additionally, I found many mistakes in the plans - and I am not an architect or engineer.

my take-home message from the experience: make sure you really do need an architect before hiring one. For us it was just several thousand dollars for absolutely no value.

I also highly recommend Ashraf from Amarch. He and XCEL Construction did a major job for me--beautiful work, very professional
