Please help...

Please help me find work as a muralist / decorative painter.

Hello!

I'm a fine arts painter, drawer, illustrator, cartoonist and now a "muralist". I've just finished a room mural for a man who we know as "davegateway" (Masterplvmbers brother) and his lovely wife Elaine for their soon to be son, Damian Thomas. Please check out a sort of collage of the room I put together after the project was well underway, but not quite completed. http://www.cswayne.com/mural.html When the babie's room is furnished I'll go back and take some more shots and present them a little more professionally.

So, what I'm getting at is: I'm for hire! If you need any sort of decorative painting done in your home please give me a call and a chance to show you what I can do. My wife, daughter and myself have only lived here for a short time ( under 5 months) and have few contacts in the area.

That number in Maplewood: 973-313-2454

...and Thanks for listening.

Yes, the mural is around 20 wide and 5 feet high. The cartouche' on the far left eventually had "Damian Thomas" inscribed inside the ribbon. Since "explorers" is the theme and Dave and Elaine are Italian-American, it was natural to use the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria as subjects for the ships and the explorer is holding a modern Italian Flag. ;-) Some fun!

Curt's photos do not do justice to the final outcome of the mural! It is spectacular! We told Curt what our concept was and he came back a few days later with a sketch that had a bit of a twist to it. We liked his interpretation and could tell he was a talented artist... We were not disappointed. He was also very accommodating to our little inputs along the way. We recommend Curt without reservation.

I know this is a tricky one, but could you give general pricing info? I don't have a SPECIFIC project in mind, but my girls want their room to be a rainforest, I love the map theme for my living room, etc...Plus, sometimes if people see a number they might not be so intimidated by the prospect of doing such custom work in their own home.

Shh,

Your right about that... this is tricky. So, don't hold me to these figures, but I would say that a person could expect to pay between 1 and 2 thousand dollars for custom work. There's no quick and easy way to get this sort of artwork onto a wall. Its just like my coming to your home to do a painting. Except I have to climb up and down a step-ladder, which I dont normally do when painting on canvas. ;-)

Shh,

Maybe I'm in the wrong trade... Maybe I should be teaching "Murals101"? I can do that too.

Hi Curtis
I absolutely loved your mural. I noticed that it seemed to be a whole room mural.
Question:
Would you ever consider doing one wall, like the main wall in my son's room with some type of train theme (since the other walls are covered by furniture). His room is very small, it would be overkill on the others... I know it would be a small job, but also maybe an easy one.
Kudos, your work is quite impressive. You also might want to think of expanding your range to NYC area, I'm sure you could be used a lot there.
Thanks

Maplemom,

I will consider painting anything. "No job too small" is my motto. ;-)

Lets get together and look at this room.

..and Thanks,

Curt

Curtis - Seems like you're advertising on here. I understand that's not allowed.

Just move the thread to the work or classified section and all is well. But then again, I "advertise" my "work" when I am doing a show. As does Jamie when he is doing his stand up stuff. So I can see how one could make the argument that "Please Help me find work" could fit in the "please help" section.
