Now that school is out, commuters have taken to parking in the South Orange Middle School Parking Lot. Problem is, residents cannot park to go to the pool. Solution: Restrict weekday at SOMS parking when school is out to after 9 a.m.?

I think there is also quite a few cars parked there for the staff of the camp being run out of SOMS. This morning when I parked to drop off my child, someone had actually "reserved" a spot by putting two folding chairs in one.

The problem was rasied last night at the parking authority meeting. The BOE controls the lot and the village has no jurisdiction there.
We are looking at short-term and long-term solutions and I will pass our suggestions on to the BOE and see if we can fix this problem.
The problems is complicated by the fact that the Adult school runs many classes at the middle school.

The Adult School Summer program usually is held at CHS, but was moved to SOMS this year. I suspect that this resulted in the parking situation taking some people by surprise this summer.

It would really help alot if there were parking space lines painted on that parking lot! As it is, cars are parked so far away from each other - if there were lines, the cars would park closer allowing for more parking spaces.
