Hi My family and I are moving to Maplewood from Brooklyn in October. I'm trying to pull together a list of daycares in the Maplewood/South Orange vicinity for my 18-month-old daughter. I've toured South Mountain Y, which we are on the waiting list for. Does anyone know of a good source/list of daycares in the area or have any suggestions? I've heard there are nice daycares run out of some of the churches and some good family run childcare but don't have names or numbers. Any tidbit of information would be greatly appreciated!

Ann Young on Plymouth Ave in Maplewood runs a family daycare center -- 973.378.3789. My older son went there for a few years and we were happy with her. |

Look in "The Attic." Day care is one of the most asked-about subjects on Maplewood Online. We were unable to get my infant son into the Y at first and he started at Discovery Nursery on Valley St. in South Orange. I think it's Discovery Learning Center for older kids. They didn't have as many amenities as the Y but the caregivers really cared about my son and even cried when he went to the Y. People on MOL seem to like South Mountain Nursery on Ridgewood Road, which is different than the South Mountain Y. |
