As I left my office yesterday and approached my car in the parking lot, I saw right away a new feature in my 7 month old car: a big bump into the right front bumper, scratches all over the place, and a broken headlight, complete with pieces of wood chips jammed into the broken light. Of course, no note. I am angry! (I am going to find out from building management if landscapers were putting down wood chips yesterday. Of course, that would be purely circumstantial, but if I leave a previously unscathed car in an office parking lot, where there is no retail or other traffic, and return 8 1/2 hours later to find wood jammed into my headlight, it's difficult not to reach any other conclusion.)

OK, anger and suspicion aside: can you recommend someone who does good body work? I've never had to deal with this before. FYI, it's a 2003 Dodge Caravan; I will be checking with Rotal Dodge, but I'm interested in hearing about others. I appreciate all advice on whom to try (and whom to avoid).

I have used Chatham Collision and been very happy. I would also look into the possibility of pursuing a claim for this damage with the building owner or landlord; their insurance very likely may cover it.

It's a bit far, but I've used Linden Auto Body three times and been super-satisfied. For me, it's been worth the trip.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, and good luck!

Fine Finishes on Scotland Road in Orange, on the left side, just over the SO border. Excellent work, nice guy, and very reasonable. I recently had some body work done there for $600. At another body shop, the estimate was more than $800.

Thanks, everyone.

I hadn't even thought about hitting the building for insurance coverage (and to think, I call myself a lawyer! :-) ), but I gues I'm still too ----ed off to think.
