Can anyone recommend an auto insurance company? Many of the big companies do not provide coverage in NJ. Liberty Mutual charges me $19.00 per month if I decide to pay my premium in monthly installments. I think its ridiculous. The only way I can avoid it is to pay my premium in full, in which case I give them working capitol in their bank account when it could be in mine. Any recs?

If you or another family member works for a qualifying employer then try to sign on with New Jersey Manufacturers. They have a website at www.njm.com which may have information on which employers qualify.

I recently got my auto insurance at Marine in Maplewood. Call Mike 973-763-4711.

The best rates/coverage Ive come across is Palisades Insurance, thay are Geico's affiliate in Jersey. Call Geico and they will give you the number. 2 cars(1996 & 2003) 2 adult drivers with clean records = $1800 per year. Minimal coverage on the 96, Soup to nuts on the 03 Forrester, $2K dedutable.

I think our NJM rates are better than Dr. Strangelove's for more complete coverage and $500-$1K deductibles on both cars (2000 minivan, 2002 Honda Civic). As mentioned earlier, your employer must be a member of the NJBIA to qualify - but once you are a customer you don't need to maintain that employment in order to continue to be eligible.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about Palisades...I dealt with them when I moved from NY to NJ through Geico. Then I had the brainstorm to consolidate both Homeowners and auto w/liberty mutual thinking I would get a discount...

Ill check both companies out. Thanks a bunch.

This board is much friendlier than the soapbox..
