As if the Nets havent largely surpassed the Knicks as the area's team, the Knicks trade fan favorite Latrell Sprewell for Keith Van Dog. I can understand why they traded Sprewell...amazing physical talent, great defender on a team that doesnt live up to the "dee-fense" chants any longer, but beyond his PJ Carlesimo incident, still not a good team citizen. But Keith Van Dog?!? Having a better team than the Knicks is a great bragging right for Nets fans...having their cast-offs makes for a great ragging right. Van Horn also has three years left on his contract at a maxed out salary contract, so you cant say theyre taking him to clear up some cap room soon. I dont mind having players with good images on a team, but you have to win too. And its NYC, Madison Square Garden, the Mecca of basketball...its not Salt Lake City. Dave Checketts' legacy continues to haunt the Knicks.

Van Horn's problem is that he disappears in big games. Luckily, the Knicks do not play in big games, so that won't be an issue.

They also haven't done the Nets any favors by sending Spree to a division rival.

When all is said and done on average he is good for 15 or 16 points a game and 8 or 9 boards, although I agree he tends to disappear when things get rough.

Assuming he is going to play at small forward he is an upgrade from Sprewell because of the boards.

never mind.

Glenn Robinson is a nice addition for Philly, but I don't know if the Nets need to start quaking yet.

Spree would have made a huge difference, though.

Glenn Robinson is an upgrade from Van Horn. Looks like the Sixers got a good deal.
