Okay, I admit that I'm technically challenged. With that out of the way, here's where I need help!! We recently purchased a JVC digital mini-DVD camcorder that takes clips and stills. Has a 1.3 million megapixel capture rate...at least that's what the box says and the salesperson said that was good - we believed him.

With our old camcorder, we always just connected it to our VCR and recorded a tape as we played it. The tape images are all right but with this new and better camera, we'd like to preserve our new stuff on a CD or DVD (whichever?) to get a higher quality. The camera came with a USB driver disc but the salesperson said that we'd also need to purchase some other software to transfer these clips to a disc. What software should we get? And once these clips have been transferred to our computer, can the clips be burned onto a CD that can be played back on the CD player on our computer?? Or...do they have to be burned onto a DVD? We don't have a DVD burner, so we'd have to get one if that's the only way.

I guess that these must be pretty basic questions to tech savvy folks - but we don't have a clue. Thanks for any advice!

I'm using Pinnacle systems Studio version 8. It's really unbelievable how easy it is to use. I paid $125 for it from B&H Photo. www.BHphotovideo.com

Here's the link.
