I have been reading about broadband phones, and now that there is a company offering it in the area, it has me interested. I was just curious if anyone in this group is using one? I have a friend that works at Cisco back in Raleigh, NC and he said that the whole facility uses the broadband phones and that you couldnt tell a difference from a real phone. So leave a message if you are using one, Thanks, Summersby |

A colleague of mine uses Vonage (http://www.vonage.com) and says he's totally happy. He pays a flat rate. He chose the area code so that his daughter can make a "local" call to him, even though he's not local at all. He told them where he is so that 911 calls get routed right. He uses it on his cable modem service. The device goes between his home ethernet and his home phone wiring, so that all phones on that "line" have access to this service. Sounds pretty good to me. I agree that it sounds great. I am just wanting to make sure that its not too good to be true. I was looking at vonage too, but didnt want people to think I was advertising for them. I think it would cut my phone bill by 1/3, maybe more. Thanks for your advice. |

Coincidentally, there's a hands-on review of Vonage in eWEEK today. |
