Moved from NYC and miss Central Park running paths terribly. In need of running paths in Maplewood area where the sidewalks aren't at a 40 degree angle (my ankles and hip thank you) or other offroad trails (that are safe). Thank you! |

Try Montrose Park which is right off South Orange Ave in S. Orange. I believe 3 times around the trail is a mile. Good for those who want a pretty flat course. |

People keep telling me to run on the trails in South Mountain reservation--particularly the side by the Turtle Back Zoo because they are less overgrown--but I haven't done it because I run alone and the one time I tried to go the only other car in the parking lot had some guy just sitting in it, which creeped me out. I think it probably is the place to go. I think there are 10 miles of trail. There is a 2 mile paved loop in the reservation that's popular (the entrance right after The Top on S.O. Ave.). If you hear of anything else, I'd love to hear it. I'm training for a 1/2 marathon and have been enjoying running the trails at Freedom Park in Randolph with my training partners, but that's a 1/2 hour drive from here. Good luck. |

There is a running/biking path around New Waterlands Park (behind GasLight Commons). Part of the path runs through the woods behind the playing fields. There are a couple of short hills, but nothing excessive imho. |
