Does anyone have a good suggestion on where to get a tasty birthday cake? Our six year old celebrates her birthday next week.

Also, any suggestions on a reasonable caterer?

Boy do we need the search engine back!

Maybe Dave should do a feature on topics that surface again and again!

In past threads on this topic I have always mentioned my satisfaction on many occasions with the bakery in the ShopRite on Morris Avenue in Union. Great cakes, very reasonable prices and they have grocery store hours, so they are open early and late every day! (PS - The cakes serve many more than the sign says - be sure to compare cake sizes when comparing prices!)

Costco has gotten similar raves, but I have not used them personally.

There are also many bakeries around that do great cakes, but I think you will pay quite a bit more than at Costco or ShopRite.

Cait & Abby's and Sonny Amster's in Millburn Mall have both made delicious cakes for my sons' birthdays. Each also did a beautiful job on custom decoration as well. If cost is your paramount concern, my recollection is that Amster's was less expensive.

Carvel rules! Cheap, fast, the kids love em (none of that fruity crap you usually find in birthday cake)

Thank you for all of your suggestions. I ran them by my six year old daughter and Carvel won by a landslide (I should've known). Any suggestions on a caterer?
