Nearly every week until November, I will need someone who can take standard cassette tapes (not microcassette) and transrcribe them using Microsoft Word, so I can have the material on a disk and a printout within 24-36 hours.

It's approximately 10 hours of tape per week. I would deliver the tapes to a local transcriber Sunday and/or Monday morning, and I would pick up the transcription & tapes no later than Tuesday morning or early afternoon.

The recordings are loud and clear, the material is simple but interesting, and the pay is good.

If you know of a local transcriber or transcription service (or would like the job yourself), please post the info here or contact me by private line. You can also call me in the afternoons at 973-762-3584.

Thanks!

kathleen

In my work, I need lengthy sessions (up to 2 hours) transcribed. I use a couple of transcribers -- but the closest (and best one) is located outside of Philadelaphia.

Are your recordings on DAT so you could email them to her? Otherwise, you'd have to Fedex to her, but that might not work for your timing.

BTW -- for an appx 90 minute session, multiple speakers, often times somewhat technical/medical -- it takes 5 - 7 hours, her rate is $25/hour.

Let me know if you're interested in contacting her.

Pete

Thanks, peteglider. That wouldn't work for me this time, because I've only got standard cassettes and won't have time to Fedex. My material isn't complicated or technical. In fact, there are only two voices on the tapes and I intend to tell the transcriber only to transcribe one. I will be using the printout as a guide to finding exact quotes on the tapes, so I don't need perfection.

Thanks for trying to help out! I have a lead to some journalism clerks, students and office workers looking for some extra bucks.
