}I moved to NJ from PA last October. Unfamiliar with the area and under a time crunch, I was happy to find a small one bedroom place in Maplewood Village. It is an easy commute to work (I am a pretty skittish when it comes to driving period, let alone here in NJ!), I feel safe here, and my fiancée (moved here in December) and I have certainly enjoyed patronizing the restaurants and shops.

Unfortunately there have been some drawbacks best left to be described in the Soap Box that have made my fiancé and I decide not to renew the lease.

We would love to stay in Maplewood, but it seems to be difficult to find apartments without going through a realtor (we would use one again if we had to, but it is an additional financial strain that we'd rather avoid). I wanted to see if anyone could direct me to the best place to look for apartments, or if anyone knows of any places that will be available in October.

We are working professionals looking for a one bedroom apartment. We don't have any pets but we do have two cars that will need to be parked somewhere. Any tips or suggestions would be much appreciated!

Gaslight Commons in SO is right by the train station. We found them through apartments.com or rent.net, two of the major web sites that people seem to post to.

AWood, this morning there was a small handwritten card posted on the bulletin board in the Maplewood train station advertising a 2 bedroom apartment for rent, close to town (I think it said 2 1/2 blocks). You might want to go check it out . . .

I know you said you would like to stay in Maplewood but if you are interested in moving closer to the city (i think that is where you said you worked) my husband and I are trying to move out of our apt in hoboken because we actually just bought a place in Maplewood. If you are interested just email me back through this post.
