Hello, We are moving to Maplewood in September from Hudson County. Would someone be willing to suggest a moving company that in addition to moving our belongings will pack our things ESPECIALLY well? We have several very large items that are fragile and irreplaceable if damaged. Thank you for your assistance. |

You can do no better, IMO, than New Wave Express, Inc. We just used them for our move to SO. They are a NJ based Japanese mover that is extermely careful and thorough. They pack things extremely well and take all the packing materials with them once you move in. They're even coming back next week to collect the boxes we've been unpacking since the move. You'll pay for it, but they treat your things and your home with great respect (believe it or not, they will take off their shoes before coming in your house when they are moving you in, an invaluable service in my mind). They speak English, but it's a second language, so you'll need to be a bit patient. Here's the number: 201 342 5550. |

We just moved from Jersey City. We used A. Pensa in Union City. The actual service was great--the team who packed up were fantastic. We had a big problem with the estimator, though. Maybe it was a miscommunication, but he waaaayyyy underestimated the amount of time needed for packing and the size of the truck. I still recommend them, especially for you, because they packed very very well and we didn't have one broken item. And we moved lots of china and glassware. If they say they can pack it on the same day that you move, tell them that you insist that they come the day before to do packing only. By the way, when we realized that we needed a second truck to fit everything, we had a bit of a drama. Nonetheless, they sent a second truck with three other guys to be sure that the job was finished. They recalcuated the estimate, and ended up owning us $125. Finally, do call the NJ Consumer Affairs and ask for a rating on the moving company you are thinking of using. We did, and our first choice had 11 complaints filed!! Pensa had none. So even though we had our glitches, they are still better than the others. |

Thank you both Yossarian and Cookbook. Your comments have been invaluable. I have had a quote from New Wave Express and will call A. Pensa tomorrow. Can anyone comment on Eagle Van Lines? We are seriously thinking of using them. Thank you for the assistance! |

If you are still looking, you can also get a quote from Chatham Moving and Storage. They actually came in under their estimate and finished the job early. The crew was wonderful, and willing to move furniture a number of times if pieces didn't fit as expected. We didn't use them to pack, but were impressed with the references from people who did.

We moved in June. We used Dynamic Moving in Linden and were satisfied. 908-862-7872. Welcome to Maplewood! Tom Reingold
