Susan,
I've had a lot of luck with the message board at the Met (found my first NYC apt. that way); go to the back stage door, past the security desk (tell the guards you work at City Opera and want to post a note on the board) and the board is in the hallway to your left (next to the usher's room) You'll see it. Good luck.

The www.ClassicalSinger.com general forum always has a lot of sublets as well - and I'm sure many singers that would love to make a few bucks renting a room :-) prob. is, most on that board cannot afford to live in the city :-( but hey...I know plenty of places you could stay in Washington Heights ;-)

oh - I would try the board in the laundry room in the building at 75 west end ave.-at 63rd st. (West End Towers) (and the others around there) - it's super close, although you do have to walk through the Amsterdam "projects" to take the short route - done it many, many times at all hours though and never once had a problem.

I'll email you if I hear of anything specific.
