To the southeast, around 10:00 p.m. (I think).

Unless, of course, you were asking sort of a John Gray, "Men are from Mars, Women are" etc. kind of philosophical question, in which case I have no freakin' idea.

Yes you still have a chance to see it--provided we have a clear night sometime soon. Isn't some intrepid poster-cum-astronomer going to organize an MOL Mars Watching Expedition for us?

We went out to the Livingston gathering organized by the Newark Museum last Friday. Lots of folks there despite the clouds/haze. At 9:30 there wasn't much to see but it looked like the clouds were starting to break up so we ran some errands at the Pathmark nearby and came back an hour later. Clearer but not entirely clear. I was able to make out the polar ice cap. There were quite a few telescopes brought by volunteers. Cool crowd of adults, kids, a sizable group of women in Muslim head scarves, a birthday group, etc. Nice gathering of strangers in the dark. Thought about going back Sat night when it was crystal clear but couldn't get the energy together and figured the little one needed an earlier bedtime.
(Thanks, Patty.)

C Bataille:

Will the gathering be repeating?

And, if so, would you provide specific location and/or organizer contact info?

Many thanks.

Be well, all, basking in the red glow!!

I don't know if they will repeat the Mars event but you could check with the folks at the Newark Museum. The site was accurately described by Patty as Ryker Art Park on Eisenhower Parkway, immediately north of the Livingston Circle. You make a right at the light beyond the circle (Beaumont? Beaufort?) and follow it until you see a square sign for the park. Turn left there and keep going up and around. I think they're having another viewing event there in November, probably a meteor shower.
