Some time ago, someone posted a website that had a listing of property taxes paid (by address, etc.). I didn't save the website and wondered if anyone remembered it. I can't find it in the archives and the search function remains off-line.

This information was developed/provided by two regular MOL posters at the time the Revaluation was being hotly debated but it was never stored on MOL.

If you need the entire data base, you could try sending a private line to JerryRyan, who developed the Excel spreadsheets with the original data and hosted the site from which that data could be downloaded and/or LSeltzer who turned that information into a valuable map program which enabled an excellent analysis of the patterns being created by CVI's assessments, which he hosted on his server. I don't know if either database is still available. In any case, the data is several years old by now and would not include any updates made as a result of protests, appeals, physical changes made to properties, etc.

The Tax Collector's Office at Town Hall should have the latest information on individual properties and would be your best starting point.

Actually, the website I visited had very current information on it (2002 taxes). You simply entered an address and zip code and the taxes paid were displayed. In fact, you could see the taxes for any residential address in the US if you wanted.

Where's Bets when you really need her??? She turned me on to just such a website a couple of years ago and I can't for the life of me remember the name now.

I think it was NJtaxrecords.com. I checked it out back then...I recall lseltzer (I think) posting the info during the whole reval thing. Recently I looked it up and there is a fee to access the info, so either they changed or I have the wrong site.

www.taxrecords.com , which I've searched in the past, didn't show the taxes paid, but did have the land value and home value (assessed value?) listed.

If you have the assessed value figuring out the taxes is just a simple matter of multplying by 3.26 percent, the current tax rate.

Also by clicklng on the map link and then the demographics link you can get all sorts of interesting data for your census tract, including income levels.

Barb:

Are you looking for Maplewood specific information? The site you described sounds as if it has a very much broader data base.

The tax records site is searchable by street, address and by other criteria. Historical data is also available going back to 1999 if you want to trace the assessment history on a particular property, say before and after rennovations. Ovcerall this is a wonderful resource for us tax junkies and the demographic data is also very interesting :-)
