I am looking to purchase a dresser/changing table and bookcase for a nursery. Based on my experience thus far, it seems that dresser/changing tables are priced somewhere around $500 - $600 for real wood. Any suggestions on discount furniture sources would be most appreciated.

way out on Rt 10 in Morris Plains is Crib World -- I bought a crib, dresser/changing table, and all the bumpers and sheets there. They are very reasonable and have nice/normal simple stuff.

You can also try Ikea. They have lots of baby stuff. One piece of advice on the bookcase: make sure you attach it to the wall so that when junior is mobile, he/she doesn't climb on it. Or, buy the Levenger's children's bookcase -- I love it! It's built in a way that it won't tip, and the spacing of the shelves allows for those tall books that most children have. It's about $150 in the catalog.

Thanks for the advice. I will look into the Levenger's stuff so that my little one will be safe!
