Just found a small dog on our porch on North Wyoming Avenue, near the West Orange border. It is friendly and obviously lost. There is a collar
and a tag but no owner ID.

Call Nancy at 973 762-4987 or njanow@SOPL.org.

Does the dog's collar tag have a registration number on it? If so, the SO or WO health offer's records (depending on which town this dog resides in when not on your porch) may be able to use the registration number on the tag to help you locate the dog's human family.

Well, Mr.LL, who has occasional strokes of brillance, put the dog on a leash and started walking. After many false stops at each and every tree, the pooch pulled him across Wyoming Ave (carefully) and up the steps of a nearby house where a dogbowl sat waiting to be used. After ringing the doorbell, a very surprised older gentleman claimed the dog as his own, after allowing how he didn't even know it was gone. Nice neat ending to a shaggy story.
