I highly recommend my cleaning "family." (I got them through MOL) They have been coming for 8 months, never have missed once, are meticulous and get everything done 4 times as fast as one person. Private line me if you're interested, |

We've been very happy with Teresa. She's thorough, very nice, and always on time. Her number is 973-589-4764. |

How much do you both pay for your homes to be cleaned? Thanks! |

I just got an estimate of $75 cash for two people to clean my house for about 2-1/2 hours. These women were referred by a friend who pays them $65 cash for about the same time period. When I asked why I would be charged $10 more, the woman in charge (she brings her sister or sister-in-law with her on jobs) said that my house was much dirtier. I do have children, toys, clutter, but my friend has dogs (we have no animals) and a much larger house. I think $75 for 2-1/2 hours is high for this sort of work, even for two people. I would expect that 2-1/2 hours of cleaning is 2-1/2 hours, whatever the work involved. (Also, the woman in charge told me that she does not do deep cleaning, big jobs such as waxing floors, cleaning windows. etc.) I have never hired a housecleaner before, so am completely green about this all. (Should I not be this explicit about payment in a public forum?) |

I think your explicitness (explition?) is fine. $75 sounds OK. I paid that much for a large 2-bedroom apartment (my last home). If I pay only that much in my house, I'll be happy. I haven't hired anyone for my house yet. But I wouldn't be happy about the no-deep-cleaning rule. I'd like to give my cleaning person a different special job each time he/she comes. Tom Reingold

From my experience with housecleaners, you can expect to pay between $15 and $20 (cash) per person, per hour for a decent job. They don't usually charge you by the hour though, it's a fee for your house and at times they may stay longer (or leave earlier). Over the past several years, I've gone through quite a few and I'm happier paying $15 more per cleaning. If you're not happy with the estimate you got, just ask around. There are lots of cleaning people and I'm sure more people will be able to provide references. |

For what it's worth -- I pay one woman $100/week and she's there from 7:30 until about 3:00. She does eeverything -- all heavy cleaning, light cleaning, straightening, laundry (washes, folds, puts away). |
