I went to my dentist today for a regular cleaning and a piece of one tooth (a molar with a filling) broke off while the hygienist was using the metal instrument with the sharp point. Now I have to go back to have them fill in the new space. At the time I assumed that the tooth could have broken at any time, but now I wonder if the hygienist was somehow negligent. If so, I should switch to a new dentist. If not, I am otherwise happy with this dentist. Has this ever happened to anybody else? I would like to know if it is normal or whether I should be concerned. Thanks.
