I don't think posting an address, map and phone number is such a good idea, Maplewoody. It makes it too easy for someone to take it as an invitation to act out. Also, sometimes the people who choose to act out under such circumstances are those who would happily toss the blame to the other side, i.e. someone who hates gays could target mwsilva at home and then gays would likely have to take the heat until/unless the perpetrator were discovered.

Cathy

Dave: I recognize that Maplewoody's post contains publicly available info but I'd like to suggest it be taken down as inflammatory. For everyone's safety.

ajc, I didn't withdraw your invite or anything. But I found the tone of your posting kinda hostile, intentionally or not, and wanted to point out it's just a party, not a requirement.
I guess I'm already a little burned out on the overreaction by some of these postings about using queer, when it's used all over the community and now, in the mainstream. I came up with this party game, to address some of the concerns over using queer (which I don't exactly love, but it's inclusive).
again, it's a party, not a political rally.

and as for Silwa, I don't think I overreacted. Anyone who would come into a gay chat area and suggest the f word, has the potential for violence. This event is going to be in my home and is, in theory, going to be a fun event. Since I don't know his real name, he could have shown up and caused some problems.

I’m not being derogatory, just thought this was funny.

I play a lot of poker and we all have nick names for cards, pocket rockets, dead mans hand, whatever. I just played in Vegas and had a pair of Queens in the hole. The dealer referred to it as Siegfried and Roy. Nearly fell out of my chair.

DOES ANYONE HAVE A TENT-THINGY? It's supposed to rain all weekend, and I'd still like to cook outside. Plus, I have a feeling alot of people will be showing up and my house isn't huge. I don't have one of those tent things, if anyone would kindly come early (3ish) and bring one, that would be great.

I can offer you a few suggestions...

I have a large center-pole 20x20, yellow and white tent I can make available to you if you have enough room outside for it?

Also, if everyone has a lot of food purchased already, you're also welcome to bring your party to my home. I certainly have enough room inside and out to handle your guests in case of bad weather...

However, if you decide to borrow the tent, unfortunately it requires at least 3 people to set it up, and it takes about a half hour or more to do it. Either way I am available to help you out.

Of course you could always postpone the party a week, but the weather could be worst with the storms in the Atlantic headed this way…

It's a tough decission, good luck. Art

hi Art, Thanks for the offer!
But, my roommate is from Seattle and said she can do cookouts in the rain, and that there's plenty of room in the house.
should be cozy

Mas, you're welcome...

Anyone from Seattle has to know how to do cookouts in the rain, and here's some more good news. Tonight’s news report sounds like the weather may be OK on Sunday afternoon, if not we love cozy...

BTW, thanks Dave, but my wife might want to disagree with you. She always gets nervous every time I raise my hand.

Ditto Dave's comment ... Arturo: You're OK.

Oh, yeah, and if you feel like bringing the party over to O'Reilly's around 9:30 tonight for some fine R&B and Soul Music, Big Train would love to see you ... No cover. No minimum. No problem ...
