Anyone know a good web-site, faq, or other resource that explains, in detail, the grossly over-complicated procedure for configuring a Wi-Fi equipped iPAQ PPC to communicate with Verizon hot-spots in NYC?

I didn't know about this Verizon Wifi stuff. Seems to be all uptown.

Anyway, there's a rather old article here that discusses PocketPC Wifi config in general. Perhaps it's helpful, but I'm sure it discusses an old OS version.

And there's a Verizon connection troubleshooting page here. Looks like you have to be a Verizon Online (dialup or DSL) customer, and you use the same username and password.

Do you have to pay for the service. There was a good article in Wired magazine about why it should be free. The analogy was to salt and ketchup in restaurants. I'm not sure I buy it, but I'm not sure I don't, either.

I do fear being nickle and dimed to death. The reason per-minute charges keep going down is that demand is increasing. We spend more on this stuff than we did before, and we're claiming it's cheaper because the per-unit cost is dropping. I'm not so sure we are looking at this stuff carefully.

If you need to run some tests the Starbucks in SO is WiFi.

Yes, I've got Verizon DSL at home. I have no problem accessing e-mail from Verizon WiFi spots in NYC with the same WiFi card I use at home. The PPC, on the other hand, has been a lot more tricky. I can get connected, but don't get access. Thanks for the advice, I found an article throgh the pocketpcthoughts.com site, if you're interested. I'm going to try again.
And, by the way, the service is free at this time for Verizon customers (unlike the Starbucks T-Mobile service).
