Now that you've all helped me with restaurants...

I'm moving on to hair - I need a cut.

Where do I go?

I go to Garubo's ... I like Kenya or Basile (his name is Anthony but they call him Basile, his last name). Both are $35 I think and have given me great cuts!

Schick Disposable salon. It's cheap, fast and you never have a bad hair day (I am told by those in the know, that I sometimes have a bad scalp day-Ouch!!).

I vote for Garubo's. I go to Anthony, though I can't really afford it, and get the whole middle aged lady shebang -- cut, color, highlights once in awhile. This young woman named Herminia does the blow out thing such that even my limp locks look amazing. Honest to God, I wish I could go there every a.m. The first time in decades I felt like someone could make me and my hair, within our limitations, look really, really good. And I ain't no beauty queen....

Alan at Hair Chalet is the best...The salon is on Springfield Ave next to Maplecrest Park with ample parking right next door. His prices are reasonable and less than Garubo.973 763-2272.

I use Larry's Lawnmower Repair on Oakhill Ave. I always feel like a new person after the hot oil treatment!

There's nothing like being in a BAR!

Thanks Mem,

Cute, very cute! I needed a good laugh this morning, and the truth is, sometimes I know exactly how she feels...

Garubo's is $35? I've been going to a certain place in Millburn for years for $32 because I thought I couldn't afford Garubo's. I like where I've been going, and the person who's cut my hair for the past 8 years, but it's a little inconvenient -- and only $3 cheaper?

Actually, since all I need is a wash, trim and blow of my long straight hair, I would love to find a less expensive place. Although I do have a lot of hair, it's a very simple thing (I think) to do a blunt cut. Aside from going to a barber, anyone have any suggestions for a more reasonably-priced wash, cut and blow?

ReallyTrying - the price of a cut depends on who you go to at Garubo's and their level of experience/expertise.

For a basic, no frills $12 cut you could consider Hair Core off Morris Ave in Union - my husband goes there.}

Also, Magical Scissors in the Millburn Mall. I bring my daughter there for a $13 cut. Not sure what they charge for adults, but I know it is not expensive.
