My parents are coming to visit on Sunday. I thought we would take the train to the city and then visit Grand central (If it’s raining). How do I get from penn to Grand? Any tips on Grand central?

Take the 1 or 9 UPTOWN (one stop) to 42nd st. From there take the shuttle to Grand Central. The best place to meet at Grand Central is by the clock in the middle of the station. |

When you get off the train at 42nd street you will see signs for the shuttle. Look for the symbol"S" or "SHUTTLE". Can't miss it, there everywhere. The shuttle goes back and forth between Times Square (42nd street) and Grand Central. You can also take a cab. There is a taxi stand at the front of Penn Station on 7th avenue. |

figuring the subway is now $2.00 you'd probably be best off taking a cab rather than deal with the limited weekends subway service. |

if you're taking a cab, use the 8th Ave. taxi stand to go uptown. |

Maybe not. Cross town traffic can be very, very SLOW. Even with the possibility of less frequent subway service, going by subway could be a lot quicker. My own preference would be to walk. The distance isn't that great and midtown streets can be fascinating, especially if you are unfamiliar with the area. |

Joan, It turned out to be a nice day so we walked. My issue was if it was raining, I wanted to stay underground. Thanks for the help all |

Brett: A midtown stroll can be awesome -- even in the rain. Glad to hear everything worked out well. |
