Last Friday morning, at 7:30ish, I had about 50 sparrows in my backyard pecking away. I assume that they were eating bugs. So here's the question from the city girl: Is this good, bad, or indifferent? |

Uh, I'm not sure about that Jgberkeley ... Birds could equal grubs ... Grubs bad.

The only time I've had that many birds on my lawn, they were eating my newly sprinkled grass seed. |

Sparrows rock! We have four families that show up April 15th (Tax day, no kidding) every year to lay eggs. When you try to mow the lawn they dive bomb right at you to get the bugs, really cool. I wouldn’t be worried what their eating, it could be any of hundreds of bugs. If you want you can go out and dig out a tiny patch to find out if you have anything harmful, my guess is that you won’t see and signs of damaging insects.
