Anyone else getting invitations to join these groups? What's the deal?

My sister signed me up for Friendster but I have absolutely no idea what it's all about. I'm as clueless as the next person.

It’s basically a dating, chat, forum website. The catch is that you need to get multiple invitations instead of just signing up and getting a password. They feel this is better because with the invite system you don’t have one person with three personas, guys poising as girls, freaks.

Of course once it get to large the invite system wont work, so the creators will divide the site up into towns, therefore limiting the number of inviters.
