If you're like me, you'd like to be a tad more in shape without the trauam of jogging or a gym membership. And then there's YOGA! I'm starting an informal yoga session at my house in MW, time to be determined. Would like to hear from others out there Men, women, children....all welcome |

My girls & I would be into it. It would definitely be something nice to do with them. Do you have any teaching experience? What kind of rates were you thinking of charging?

hi, I wasn't going to charge. I just want a group setting to keep me disciplined. And if it's at my house, there's no excuse. I know yoga, but not enough to teach. I was going to get a tape to get me started |

Mas- I would be in, but I think you need to find a qualified instructor. People get hurt following tapes without proper instructions. There is a group that meets at work & the instructor charges $40 for 10 sessions. That's pretty cheap. If you put together a group like that, depending on the time of day, let me know. |

hi greenetree, Yes, that's the downside. And probably these days, I should get everyone to sign a waiver that they wouldn't sue me if they pulled a hamstring. Seriously. I don't see how I could charge if I'm not certified, or do you mean procure an instructor, and then have it at my place? RE: time and day, don't know, depends on the group |

Shh, I just ordered a "fat burning yoga" DVD and should have in a few days. I agree with greenetree about proper instruction, although you can still get hurt in a certified class. I guess I feel comfortable with tapes since I started yoga in high school. I'm not in the "feel the burn" school of exercise and advise taking it easy until you get the hang of it. What days and times are good for you? I work from home, early in the day or after dinner time are good for me. Let me know. |

Mas- I meant that I would probably participate if there were a certified instructor leading the group. We would all chip in to split the cost of the instructor. Maybe there is an instructor who wants to make a little extra money on the side. |

There are some really good yoga tapes out there. I prefer the Living Arts Series. Patricia Walden and Rodney Yee provide instruction. Yoga for Beginners and PM Yoga are excellent. If you listen to your body and don't over exert yourself you should be fine doing these tapes. Yoga is gentle stretching. I highly recommend the PM yoga. It is only about 20 minutes and you feel great afterward. I think you can get them from Amazon, Buy.com, etc. Good Luck! |
