The plan under consideration is NOT to close the Hilton Branch library but to MOVE it and utilize that land for the new police headquarters. Here's an excert from the News-Record article on the subject: Committeeman Gerard Ryan said, "We're talking about putting the police building where the Hilton Library is now and having a conversation about where the library might be moved to." Some details of this proposal will be offered at Tuesday night's Township Committee meeting. With the library site, Ryan said, "You probably wouldn't take away any of the park and you wouldn't have to reroute utility lines. But then, what are you going to do with the library?" "I think whatever we do with this, it needs to have a distinct plan to keep the library on Springfield Avenue. I think it would be a mistake to abandon having the library's presence on the avenue," Ryan said. DeLuca agreed. "I do not want to see the site used without a comparable library being relocated."
