I stopped into the new knitting/yarn store in Maplewood today (in the stores over the movie theater on Maplewood Ave.) and was happily surprised to see a wonderful selection of yarn/wool and other knitting supplies. The owner mentioned she'd taught knitting at the Adult School for quite a while, so she knows her stuff and can give you lots of information on the project you are doing or planning.

When we all posted about the type of stores we'd like to see in town a while ago, a craft store was on my wish list - I am very happy to see this store here and hope it is successful.

Any other knitters or crocheters out there?

I haven't knitted in years. Just recently I was thinking of taking it up again, to aid me in trying to quit smoking..can't smoke with needles in your hands, right? I'll check this place out, thanks for the information Cody.

I love the knitting part. It's the sewing part at the end that I can't seem to get done.
What's the name of the store?

The store is called Knit-and-Stitch.

I took a class from Rosemary last winter through the adult school. She's wonderful!

Do they also have supplies for other forms of needlework such as embroidery and needlepoint?

I'm not sure, Joan - I was looking for knitting yarn and patterns, so that's what I focused on. There was a display case by the window and a corner of the store that seemed to have notions, but I really didn't look there this time. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Just wish she had located her shop on Springfield Avenue! Tucked away up above the movie theatre may predict failure. There's a daunting flight of stairs for starters.

I was in there for the first time this weekend, and very impressed. But I, too, worry about a retail shop that's so out of sight. I hope the owner does a lot of advertising.
