I must be the world’s worst researcher. I’ve spent more than an hour looking online, looking for Retail Sales counters. Something to put a cash register on, some glass display area would be great. Something like in Painting Plates, or Maplewood Liq. Or Cravings would work as well.

Does anyone have a hit where to look online or even a local source?

George: If you look in the yellow pages under "store fixtures" you might have some luck. The Newark yellow pages might be better than the Orange area, although there are some lisings in the Orange directory. In any event, "store fixtures" is what you're looking for. Try to get some used fixtures - they're substantially cheaper than new fixtures. Good luck.

Thanx, I'll look.

Google works better if you know buzz words.

"Cash Wraps" seem to be in the area, but not exactly what I am looking for.

JG - Try talking to a commercial realtor - they can give you leads on used stuff from businesses that have gone under.

Or you can have something custom made (you're pretty handy, yes?). My dad had a business years ago and had a friend build him a counter/display stand using MDF and formica laminate with plexi inserts and it worked out well (better than the business did).

jg,

My wife and I built her register counter. That allowed us to put in exactly what she wanted in terms of space, shelves, etc. It's just a 2x4 frame with a plywood and paneling shell, with a stock kitchen counter from Home Depot.

But if you still need it, I can probably get the names of the various catalog companies that she looked at.

Thanks. I'd like to say I had much involvement, but I was limited to some heavy lifting and some minor design suggestions. My wife did most of the work. The only tough part was that we built it at home, then moved it to the store. It weighed a ton. Ok, maybe just 150 pounds or so, but we had a heck of a time moving it. Next time, we'll build on-site.

Woodstock, which business do you own? I'd like to take a gander.

Jet, funny, a guy at work told me the same thing. He included that you will not find them on the internet.

That is odd.

Just got the word, we got the lease and the key.

jg,

It's Newborn Necessities in West Orange. The store is in the same strip mall as Metropolitan Plant at Mount Pleasant Ave and Pleasant Valley Way. My wife will be the pregnant woman who refuses to sit down and relax. If you go in, tell her to sit down for a while!
