I parked on Highland Place today to go to lunch at St. James Gate (same beer, no lines, great caesar salad with salmon!). When I returned, less than 2 hours later, I had a ticket on the windshield. It was written so lightly that I was unable to see the date of appearance or violation number; the ticketer had written "improper parking" in the "description" spot, but that didn't correspond to anything on the back of the ticket, so I don't even know how much I would be expected to pay. Further, there was nothing improper I could see about my parking. I was in a designated space, within the lines, within the correct time frame, not on the curb or too far from the curb. I was so puzzled that I asked a passerby, who ended up looking over the car too and giving me her name and number in case I needed corroboration. My question is: Now what? How do I address this? Should I write a letter? Call? I would show up if I knew when I was supposed to show up.... |

Traffic court is local, don't know the hours. When my daughter started driving and collected a few questionable parking tickets (she had a very creative interpretation of parking rules until we made her pay her own tickets) we stopped by the police station and asked the desk officer what was what. They were always pretty helpful. You might try that if you have time. Any chance it could have been written for another car and someone plopped it on your windshield? Does the vehicle info and plate match yours? |

The ticket should have a serial number, so they should be able to find a "darker" copy of your ticket. Tom Reingold There is nothing
