Looking for a relatively close by place/farm for apple/pumpkin picking that has fun things to do for kids (as well as grown ups). Anyone have a place they can recommend and where they are....?? Thank you |

Chester has Alstede Farms and Morristown has Wrightman's (I think that's the name). You may find some under www.fieldtrip.com |

Went to Wightman's Farm last weekend and thought it was the biggest ripoff for pumpkin picking. It was $6 per person (even for kids over 13 months) for a hay ride and pumpkin. The pumpkins were all rotten or cracked. You're better off at a farm like Alstede's on Pleasant Hill Road in Chester where the hayride is free and the pumpkin price is by the pound. |

Thanks for input Chalmers.... I called all the farms and none have apple picking for the rest of the season and most told me that they have a few pumpkins and a few had simply ended the season and nothing was going on. I am having a friend and her daughter come over next weekend and thought that would be a fun way to spend a day and then cook an apple pie later.... Any ideas for a Saturday, Nov 8th outing with a 7yo..... the foliage is spectacular now.... perhaps some recomendations on a long country road to partake the views... Thank you. |

We were just at the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge with our kids. Its great for the little ones because there are some relatively short walks that are on boardwalks over the swamp (so no rocks or trees for them to trip on). For older kids there are longer regular trails and its a lovely drive. Saw lots of birds including many perfect Vs of geese. Info and directions here: http://greatswamp.fws.gov/ |
