Can someone please explain this concept to me? "Natural" dry cleaners? Is it like "natural" Windex? Is this a scam? |

We have used Natural Dry Cleaners on Millburn (near Valley) for the past year or so. The chemicals they use for dry cleaning are called "second generation solubles." Instead of using perchloroethylene and petroleum, their dry cleaning process uses a mild chemical along with liquid CO2. Also they do not have to use the high temperatures that conventional dry cleaners use. This method is far cleaner to the waste water, and the air quality. Natural DC on Millburn, also has a great offer which gives you 30% back on all dry cleaning. You receive a frequent cleaning card. Each time you bring in dry cleaning, thirty percent of your total will be added to your card. Once your card reaches $30, you can redeem your card toward any service.

Sounds interesting. Maybe I'll try them. Are the prices still competitive to the "regular" dry cleaning? |

in my experience the prices are the same - less, when you count the discount card. |

The price for dry cleaning a man's suit is $9.95 then deduct 2.95 for the 30% discount. Cost for a man's suit is $7. Washing a dress shirt is $1.45 and they do a great job, and follow your requested laundering directions. Linda's on Maplewood would always go heavy on the starch, even when asking for light or no starch. After she pulled some shifty business practice on us, we left her, never to return. Gleason's was okay, but they occasionally scorched shirts, and would not take responsibility for it. |

I think it's a pain to use any dry cleaner in the Village only because of the parking. This reminds me. I went to Linda's once. Everything from the parking to the whole checkout took way too long. At least they have like 3 or 4 people at Gleason's...and now I have to actually GO to the cleaners to get my clothes cleaned |

WE just switched to Natural from Gleasons. LOVE their work! Gleasons used to press my shirts I'd like to wear outside of my slacks, and the front at the bottom was ALWAYS wrinkled from their ironing buck. They are PERFECT from Natural and 30 cents cheaper per shirt. Gleasons ruined 2 shirts of mine and would not do anything about making it good for me. GOOD RIDDANCE to them! |

I had the opposite experience and switched to Gleasons. Natural could not remove stains well and wouldn't always repalce buttons they'd fry. With Gleasons, the stains aren't an issue any more and I never have to put a shirt back in the morning because of a missing button. |
