Have a car that desperately needs washing, but haven't seen a car wash in the maplewood area. Any suggestions? |

I have had okay luck with the one on Irvington Avenue in South Orange--I think it is called Cleanway. It is an automatic wash (not good for those who only want a hand-washed car), but for getting salt off it works okay by me. |

Looking for a carwash in the SO/Livingston/WO area that is a drive through where you stay in the car. Thanks! |

Actually I think Cleanway is now using hand-washers, not automatic. Haven't been there yet so I can't confirm. |

I go to Cleanway, but I recently heard a bizarre story in which a car fell through the floor to a basement underneath, while it was moving through the car wash. I guess there is equipment down there related to the washing machines. Apparenlty the car sustained a ton of damage. This was told to me by someone waiting with me at the car wash, as we waited for our cars to come through. Urban legend or true? I don't know but it does honestly make me want to find a new car wash. |

eek! And you still had your car washed there? That's pretty brave. |

Cleanway looks like it's automatic but if look through the window there are 8-10 guys washing the car by hand. They do the windows and Vac. so you can't stay in the car SPW. |

Check out the small parking area directly in front of Columbia H.S. most Saturdays. Columbia H.S. sports teams and other school clubs take turns running a car wash there. Your car gets clean and you help support student activities at the H.S. at the same time. |

Mantram, I didn't find out until my car was coming through the tunnel. Believe me, I watched it pretty closely - it was only about a month old and had less than 400 miles on it! I wonder if this is one of those rumors, though. Still, who would make up such a thing? |

Whatever happened to driveway + bucket, soap, sponge, hose? Get the family involved, too. Maybe not so fun from November to Feb, but then again, neither is calling your insurance agent about a claim on your new -- albeit sparkling clean -- car. |

We use Millburn Car Wash as well. It's on Willow Ave off Main Street. They do a good job, they're open 7 days a week and give a AAA discount... Can't go wrong. |
