I want to learn how to sell on E-Bay. I will pay $25/hour for two hours help, over a weekend, for assistance with using a digital camera to photograph my stuff, uploading the files (hope that's the right terminology) and decoding the reams of selling instructions that E-Bay provides, most of which I've printed out and started to read. I've been a too-avid E-Bay buyer for four years, now need to go to the other side. I don't have time to take the SOM Adult School Course, by the way. Private line if you or someone you know might be able to help and make an extra fifty bucks! |

Spry, I find that the easiest way to list things on eBay is to use their free auction listing software called Turbo Lister. It makes creating a listing, uplading photos, calculating fees a snap. It is only available for Windows. You can download it from here: http://pages.ebay.com/sell/tools.html

Another resource is Vendio, which has very active user forums. http://www.vendio.com/mesg/list.html?num=2 If you can't find a tutor, I'd simply start small through trial and error. If you're going to sell only a few items, I don't think you need sophisticated online services. Also, I could be wrong, but the local adult school may offer eBay classes. Maybe someone can confirm? |

Wow! Thank you all very much for these terrific links. Much appreciated. Yes, our local adult school does offer eBay classes, but with my full-time workin' momma schedule, I can't make time to go. Again, many thanks Kevin, Dave and thegoodsgt for your help. Oh - but one more question (thanks in advance) do any of these sites help me with downloading photo files onto e-bay? Or, is this an easy process, a matter of sticking a disc into one of my computer's drives? |

Spry - I listed stuff for sale for the first time on ebay today and it wasn't hard at all. I just followed their "sell an item" steps. I didn't do anything fancy but the auctions look like most of the ones ordinary people sell with. The photo upload is very easy - you need to have the photo on your hard drive and when you get to the relevant point in the listing process it will let you browse and select the picture. I didn't read the lengthy instructions - just followed the steps as I said. If you aren't used to using a digital camera or scanning regular photos, I'd learn that first (also very easy). Don't be intimidated from using ebay because you are nervous about digital pictures. ;-) |

There are 2 short-term classes at the Adult School about e-bay, one for buying and the other for selling. Don't remember the dates. Maybe you can still sign up. 973-378-7620 www.somadultschool.org |

Umm, I think Spry said twice that she can't attend the Adult School classes . . . |

Spry, I'd be glad to help, and I won't take money. Perhaps we can barter something. This way, it will be a neighborly relationship, rather than a business one. Tom Reingold There is nothing

You are all so terrific! I spilled coffee all over my white shirt this morning on the train, and reading your replies has changed my 'tude from grumpy to grateful (no worries -- I won't be too cheerful). Tom, I will private line you about a skills or favor swap, and to check times. I will also, this weekend, use the web-sites provided by Dave, Kevin and thegoodsgt. Thinking about selling has, for the time being, abated my e-bay buying addiction. Speaking of buying (I'll also post this on another thread in the classifieds section), does anyone have a single mattress in new or almost new condition they'd like to sell by Saturday morning? We bought a new bed but have no mattress for it and have a guest sleeping over on Saturday night. I am trying to avoid using Dial A Mattress. Thanks again, one and all, for your help and offers of .... |

My email is noglider@pobox.com. Did you get my private line? My daughter just got a new bed this past weekend, so her old bed isn't being used. Let me check with my wife, but I'm pretty sure we have no plans for the old mattress. If that's the case, you can have it. Tom Reingold There is nothing
