Any suggestions? - We have a 1983 Honda (100,000 miles) that worked beautifully till the power steering sprang a leak. It would cost more to repair than the value of the car. Does anyone want it, or know of a free removal service?

Donate it to charity -- it's a mitzvah, plus they'll take it away and and you'll get a tax deduction!

Donate it for a tax deduction. I donated an old Tempo and received a receipt for 5x what I could have sold it for.

Put it on cement blocks on your front lawn. Your neighbors will be upset at first, but when the next reval comes along it'll bring down house assessments and keep taxes from going up.
Makes a great planter as well.

If you put it on blocks, put some bullet holes in it. It`s a cool look.

Marshall,

If it still runs w/o the power steering and travels in a fairly straight line AND you can get it up to 40 MPH or faster

.... and you have a sense of adventure, try this.

First, remove the license plates, the VINs from the dash, the engine, and the door sills.

Second, remove all personal objects from the car -- e.g. registration, phone bill, business card, the matchbook with Crystal's phone # in it, etc.

Third, put just just enough gas in your car to go from your house to downtown Millburn.

Then at about 3AM, approach the new Vauxhall bridge from the Union side heading toward Millburn.

Starting at Valley .... buckle yourself in tight. Really tight. If you have a motorcycle helmet, wear one.

Then when the light turns green, make sure you're alone, put it in 1st gear, and gun that puppy toward the bridge as fast as you can.

In about 20 seconds, power steering will be the least of your problems.

When you land --- get out the car and run like hell. Try running into the river. Then walk home.

Oh wait ... you said an '83 honda? Never mind. I take it all back.

Hondas don't fly.

But VWs do float.

I have tried 6 charties, they are very particular. They all want cars no older than 91 . Michael, if your still interested the car runs well ,it just needs a bit of work to steer it.

Don't accept a free car! With title transfer you pay sales tax on value of the car. Value is either what you paid for it or book value.

In my estimation an 83 Honda with no power steering is worth a $1.00, tops!

That $1.00 may not work. They may still want you to pay taxes on book value. Your better off putting a higher purchase price, then there`s less chance they`ll give you a hard time.

I'll take it!
If it's free it's for me.
A purchase price for taxes? Bah!
The DMV will be lucky to get the .006 off me.
Thanks Marshall!

We were given this car by my neighbor 4 years ago.
When I went to register the car I told them it was a gift. I did not have to pay sales tax on the car.
