Does anyone have a recommendation to get a good sofa bed? We definately don't want a futon. Jennifer Convertables didn't exactly thrill us in selection. Thanks

We did a search recently. Stay away from JC...very bad reputation. Many regular sofas come with a sofabed option...try Macy's furniture or LaZBoy furniture both on 22 in Springfield/Union area. Both have a nice selection. FYI...We ended up getting a futon and spent as much as a sofa bed (around $1000)with all of the upgrades. It is VERY comfortable as a bed but not as a sofa for me because of the slant of the seat (I am very short). Also because the mattress is so good and heavy it is very hard to change it from sofa to bed and back, it takes 2 people (so it usually stays as a bed). Looks nice though. Hub likes it, I am not thrilled. |

We got a very nice one from Ikea a few years ago. Not too expensive. People thought it was from a much more costly place. |

We just got a great corner sofa/sofabed from Ikea. Very pleased with the result although we had to screw on the back and the arms ourself. |

Carlyle in NYC makes the best, if you're willing to pay. I think the cheapest is about $3,000, though they may have a few for less. They don't have any lumps to sleep on. My mother just helped us buy one. We wouldn't have spent that much. It's very nice. Recently, she came out and slept on it, so that's putting her money where her back is. We got ours from MSO furniture outlet - they have 2 showrooms; one in Wayne and the other in Fairfield. Here's their website: http://www.msofurniture.com/. Good luck!

Personally, I would recommend getting a regular sofa and an aerobed. I've never heard of a sofabed that stayed comfortable, and the aerobed is the best. It's great for travel, too. Once we got ours we never used the pull-out bed again. |

I second Gretchen's motion! We had a very expensive, upscale pull-out that was very uncomfortable after a few years. It galled me to buy a new mattress for the sofabed, just because it was old, since it wasn't used that often. We got rid of the sofabed & got a great regular sofa & an aerobed. Besides, it's a much cheaper solution & gives you more options on where to keep the guests. |
