Can anyone recommend a reliable, local car service?

Maplewood Taxi has always been reliable for me -- on time, no funny business with the fares, cars are reasonably clean. (973) 762-5700 or (973) 763-0008

I've had problems with Maplewood Taxi and have found A+ taxi to be a more reliable and cheaper alternative: 973-275-0660

I use Sebonis Town Taxi. A little slow, but you just have to like the guy.

I know you're all dying to know how my car service experience went, I won't keep you in suspense.
A little backstory: I originally inquired about a car service for use tonight. My significant other (aka "My Ride") was unavailable, I knew it would be raining heavily and I did not relish the idea of a mile walk home from the SO train station in the rain after 10p.
I called from Penn Station, 40 minutes in advance of my arrival. First, Maplewood Taxi ( I only had the 1st # with me) I heard "All circuits are busy". Moving right along to A1.They close at 10 during the week but they gave me the number of West Way. Not on the list of recommendations by MOLer's but, hey, they said they'd pick me up.
10:15-our appointed rendezvous time. no car
10:22-no car.
I call. They tell me it'll be there "in a second". I am standing outside in the pouring rain.
10:29 - They tell me the driver is on Valley Street.
10:37 - I am walking a mile home in the rain after 10p, after telling them to forget it, after standing in the rain for 20 minutes.
OK, I realize this post now belongs under "Soapbox". Sorry!
shh I am calling YOU next time!

Pippi,

Me thinks you missed the joke. The photo was the

Get it? See the rain wet street? The donkey? The truck body on wheels?
[Jamie, I'm dying here, any advise?]

My thoughts exactly George. Though Pippi's cool, sure she wasn't insulted.

Next time call me! I can't believe you didn't! J got home and everyone was asleep. I was making up excuses not to fold laundry! You have my damn number in your phone silly...

I didn't miss the joke, just wanted to be sure - as I am new to MOL- that I wasn't being "difficult". Although I think that IS the point of MOL, isn't it?
I'll catch on, I promise!
(thanks for coming to my defense, shh!)
