Stawberry,

You forgot to mention his best selling books.

You are so damaged that you're not worth fixing.

Roger and Me was excellent though very biased and one-sided. The way he made his points was very clever. Even back then you could sense his anger, hostility and distrust of anyone in power. He has transferred his comtempt of the CEO of GM to George Bush.

What would be different and funny is if he would do a Roger and Me film about the Hollywood/Rich/Elite types. Now that would be funny!

His books are hardly worth remembering. I'll give him his due for his film work but his books have been weak.

Figures, llama finally reads something and it's nothing more than common trash.

Moore is very biased, and it's best if we take him with a grain of salt. I loved Bowling for Columbine. But some of it was stupid, like the way he pressured Walmart (or was it K-Mart?) to stop selling cartridges (for guns), aka bullets. Even Moore thinks it's reasonable to own guns, and he pointed out how gun ownership works out just fine in Canada. So why should Walmart stop carrying it? They caved just for the PR, not any good reason.

Anyway, the film left a good question unanswered: why are Americans so violent with each other? For that, he gets a lot of credit.

I think he exposes the NRA to be a bunch of wackos, but that doesn't necessarily mean that wide gun ownership is the problem.

mem, aka toots, you are too kind to me. I *wish* I were clever enough not to get caught up in mainstream cults, but I confess to be a loyal Democrat. I voted Republican for the first time this month, so maybe I'm becoming a moderate.

Strawberry,

His books happen to be best sellers.

You do have a point though. I occasionally read some of your posts.

Insite: Don't be scared. Nobody's going to hurt you.

I think if Strawberry could personally attack me by calling me stupid, I can publicly call him an asshole, which by the way, he probably is!

I don't care if I get a week's vacation because I'm going away anyway!

Algebra,

Thanks for the well wishes, but your husband has gotten booted more times than I ever will.

Insite,

Nice. Very nice. It's nice to wish people illness. What if I said I hope you get cancer? Would you like it....

So you're a cat that posts. Our cat is a compulsive or recreational toilet flusher and I had to put different handles on our toilets to stop her.

Compulsive flushing? What a waste of good, thirst-quenching toilet water! Your cat is obviously not a feline of discerning tastes.

"But if you listen long and hard enough, you can hear their faint and distant cries for help. It's clear that they suffer from a unique pathology that is slowly driving them insane. They are, at their core, very VERY afraid. They are afraid because, ultimately, they are ignorant. They are ignorant of much of the world that exists outside their own. They haven't a clue what it's like to be black or hopelessly poor or wishing to kiss someone of their own gender. This basic ignorance leads to their overwhelming and permanent state of fear. The fear quickly manifests itself into hate, which eventually leads to a very dark place. They become consumed with a desire to actually harm others, if not by their own hands (they are usually too afraid to do it themselves), then by having the state act in their stead: "Take away their funding! Eliminate their jobs! Execute the bastards!"
This hate becomes not just political but personal, as anyone who has ever been married to one of these guys or had one as a relative or neighbor or boss knows. It is a rough road to hoe when you begin your day with an inherent anger toward everyone who isn't YOU."

"I believe that many are lost in their own anger and have been manipulated by propaganda intended to get their blood boiling. The corporate, religeous, and political chieftains know just which buttons to push to get otherwise decent well meaning people on their side."

Right on the nose Mr. Moore!
