Brookside Thai on Broad Street in Bloomfield. Not pricey, and food is great. |

Morris Thai on Morris Avenue in Union is a more affordable (and quite tasty) alternative. We get takeout there, but you can eat in as well. |

I second Khun Thai. The food there is great. Thai Chef on Bloomfield Ave. in Montclair is also excellent if you want to take a little drive. (It's about 20 minutes away.) |

Khun Thai is on Millburn Ave but not in the downtown. Go thru downtown, past the high school and thru the next light. It's near the corner on the left side after you go thru the light. |

Our friends have been to the Khun Thai on Millburn Ave (Short Hills area) 3 times in as many weeks so I guess that says a lot for it!! (They must REALLY like Thai food!) |

I would recommend Taste of Asia in Chatham as an asian non-chinese food alternative. It is Malaysian food, which is a bit similar to Thai...less noodles though. They also have a location in Montclair. |

Went to Morris Thai a week ago. We were not impressed or even pleased. Our dishes: pad thai w/chicken and "spicy" chicken w/basil & veggies. Both were quite average and the portions gave us no leftovers. The pad thai noodles were a bit overcooked at the sauce was too sweet. The "spicy" chicken wasn't that at all. The white rice was fine, however. Our drinks: They serve green tea in a BAG!, not brewed. Thai iced tea, WAAAYYY too sweet. The service was subpar (slow, not friendly) as well. We just started looking for Thai restaurants, so it seems we need to keep looking. BTW: Our baseline restaurants include Kin Khao, Republic, Vong, A Taste of Thai, and the various NYC places in the west 50s. |

Try the Thai restaurant that I recommended a few days back in this thread, Brookside Thai. We used to go to Morris Thai, and Brookside Thai is much, much better. If you want directions, privateline me. |

I'd have to agree with Marken regarding Morris Thai. Although we were pleased with the service, the food was nothing special. |

Let's face it: we need a good Thai place in town (in SO or Maplewood). All the places mentioned so far have average food (compared to Thai in the city), or just too darn far. I'd take a Thai place over Burnett BBQ any day. |

Thai Thai Cuisine in Sterling has the best Thai food I've had in Jersey. It's a bit of a drive, but in my opinion, surpasses the Thai restaurants I've eaten at around here. And I agree with the others who recommend Taste of Asia in Chatham and Montclair - wonderful Malaysian cuisine! |

Taste of Asia in Montclair is closing at the end of the year (I believe that they lost their lease)> I spoke to the manager and tried to convince him to move here, even put him in touch with a Trustee and Main Street Manager. If you go there for dinner before they close, push for M/SO. They are really wonderful and would be a great addition to our communities. NCJ aka LibraryLady On a coffee break..or something like it.
