I was forced to take the train home late from the city tonight. As many of you know I normally have my driver take me in and out of the city but this was a special situation. Anyway, while sitting on the train car before the 10:40 left Penn Station a group of teens from Summit (close to 15 of them all friends, got on the train.) Most of them were girls around 15-16 years of age. They were coming home from a concert and most were as drunk as one can be. The girls were laughing at their friend who was so drunk she passed out and even puked before getting on the train. They all thought this was funny. During the train ride, they were screaming and acting pretty toasted. One girl even said her father bought her the beer she drank that night.

A couple things crossed my mind while sitting there.

1) Are their parents aware their kids are such drinkers?

2) Is school on break now or are these kids running around even on a Monday night?

3) Too bad I'm not 17 because these chicks looked easy.

Anyway, my point is this to all parents with teens. Do you know where your children are??

They thought they were at a concert. Would I let me child go to a concert alone at 15-16, I don't think so. Did I sneak a beer back then....maybe.

I think kids sneaky when it comes to concerts and booze, and then so should the parents.

buzzsaw,
that would be impossible since my dads no longer with us. It takes a very small man to have to make insults personal.

Straw, I was on that train too, and there were a lot more than 15! I went from car to car trying to find a quiet spot and couldn't. Finally got on the second-from-the-back car, against the wall. Two teenage girls were there, escorted by the mother of one of them. That was nice to see. I was hiding behind my iPod trying not to listen.

Ah to be 17 again...

What was the concert?

mtierney, it was meant as humor, hardly anything deeply political. I guess I offended buzzsaw who saw fit to attack not only me but also a member of my family (sadly deceased).

I'm not that upset by it, as it's coming from someone whose intellect can only handle a reply akin to, "yo mama" when dealing with a disenting opinion.

I would like to go on record as saying "sorry". It had nothing to do with anyone in your family. It was more a ying to your yang joke.

Peace.

John Mayer was at Madison Square Garden last night - the girls described match his fan base. He's not exactly a head-banging, trash talking act, but sort of the opposite. I suppose some parents could have thought that it was okay to send their kids to that concert via train, where the show was right upstairs from the station.

But, from the description you guys gave, I doubt the kids could hide their condition from the folks by the time the train got to Summit.

That picture of Strawberry is analogous to a Micrsoft "proof of concept". The actual product looks different.

Alegbra2,

That's strange about not getting my email. But was is even weirder is that I think that alleged picture of Strawberry is really Jeff Bagwell who also went to college with us.

I am not a baseball fan but I am pretty sure that is him. Weird.
