Curt Schilling to the Red Sux?...could be interesting..a class act, great pitcher, some injury issues of late. He has a no trade clause and the Sux, the Yanks or the Phillies are the only teams he's most likely to go to. Where will he end up?

Alonzo Mourning retires. Often belligerent, always hard working, and giving 100%. His ailment has re-surfaced and he can no longer play. Will this hurt the Nets or help them get back in the flow since Mourning never got it going this year? Were they relying too much on him as the missing piece? Do they get an exemption now on the salary cap to go out and get someone else?

Warren Spahn dies at age 82. I wasnt alive in his heyday, but my father made me aware of him since we were all lefty pitchers...Warren of course the winningest lefty of all time, me, well, I did well through Babe Ruth League. He pitched until he was 46, but didnt win his first game until he was 25 because he was getting a Purple Heart in WW2. Some interesting stories...he won his 300th game in 1961 with Joe Torre behind the plate; he pitched in 1965 for the NY Mets with Yogi Berra behind the plate; and in 1951, a struggling rookie about to be sent to the minors hit a home run off of him -- Willie Mays. Spahn and Sane and two days of rain.
