Can anyone recommend a moving company: reliable, responsible and reasonable. |

Paul's Moving & Storage in Orange was very professional and reasonably priced when we used them last year. |

Flat Rate Movers in Brooklyn. I do not have their #, but they will fax you a list of items and you check off what you need moved. Great, quick, cheap. Good Luck. I used them to move from Maplewood/NY. |

I don't know if Flat Rate will work for you, unless they charge on a basis other than flat rate. For those of you that don't know this, flat rate pricing is not legal in NJ. Time and/or weight are the only factors (outside of packing supplies) that can be used. Also, quotes are not permitted to be given over the phone, so run away from any company that doesn't come to your house and survey before giving an estimate. There's a website (I think it's consumeraffairs.org) that is very interesting, and lists moving companies that are running acceptable operations, and those that have complaints. I suggest you read it thoroughly; when I moved, one of the companies I was considering had a significant number of complaints. |

We just used a United Van Lines vendor called Liberty Van Lines out of Union. They were good and very efficient. Our sales guy was George Van Laar. The moving guys were very nice and careful and their overall prices was also very accurate. Remember- local moves use time and man/hour rates. They come to your home and evaluate what you have and give you an estimate. They say it will take xx number of men xxx number of hours to move you. It's only an estimate though. What really happnes tha day of the move is what you are really charged. Be careful- some sneaky companies will give you a lower estimate to get your business, but will end up charging you tons on moving day. It costs what it costs period. Use someone large and with a good name. |

I will second the recommendation for Liberty Van Lines. George is a great guy, and his time and manpower estimate was right on. The crew was very nice and very professional. We had a 3 day move from Westfield with lots and lots of heavy antiques, and not a single thing went wrong. |
