I've never been able to figure this out. Why not pants? Or socks? Or sweaters? Why the obsession with shoes?

Because your feet are something that are usually skinnier than the rest of you. They don't change size too much when women gain weight.

There's something very sexy about beautiful shoes on your feet. Why don't men pay more attention to women's shoes? You can tell a lot about a woman and her mood by her shoes. R

I do not like shoes. Sneakers, slippers, hiking boots, yes. Shoes, yuck.

Rebecca --

Given the choice of areas to admire on a woman, shoes aren't even on the radar. I've never heard a man say, "wow, check out the shoes on her," or "I'd like to get my hands on her shoes."

On the plus side, you can always be sure shoes are real.

Forget Iraq, lets clone men with foot fetishes and we may make a dent in the war of the sexes.

Yossarian - are you going to tell me that you don't think a women in strappy heels looks sexier than a women in Birkenstocks?

Sure, heels look nice. They accentuate the curves in the calf, which is sexy. But the shoes are an afterthought, or maybe a given. If she's in nice heels, she's probably in a nice dress, and chances are the dress is accentuating other curves which I and my fellow cavemen are more interested in assessing.

If it's the woman you love, the strappy heel and the Birkenstock are the same thing.

I love FOOTWEAR. Why, because I dress pretty conservatively (plain?) for the most part, so different shoes can make that black suit go from casual to wedding dressy.
I'm not into high heels, maybe for a special occasion, but if they're too high (1) I can barely walk, (2) I enter the 5' 10" zone which is my husband's height (3) my feet KILL me the next day and (4) I look even gawkier than at my normal 5'7".
I am different than most women though, after having kids my clothing size has gotten smaller (designers make clothes much bigger these days) but my feet have gotten quite a bit bigger. I don't care though, makes me feel grounded.

I had a gorgeous pair of Joan & David snakeskin heels (c. 1985) that I still mourn, what was I thinking? My blue Adidas Rom that I bought w/ babysitting $ (c. 1975) Oh! pink fabric boots that folded down to mauve inside (c. 1979) those were so cool. They would work today with black tights...flowery flip-flops going on 6 years.

I can't remember pants, shirts or socks, but shoes! Shoes are what you see when you look down. I can sew a pair of pants sure, but shoes, they're a work of art. No one can make their own shoes, (sandals maybe), but not shoes.

A good pair of shoes is a beautiful thing.
