Since there have been a lot of discussion lately about crime in general and at least one about the Midland Park area in particular I thought this would be of interest. Note that it is not limited to Midland Park residents but is open to all interested in starting a Neighborhood Watch.
___________

The Safety Committee will conduct an orientation meeting for all concerned
neighbors to find out how to establish a Neighborhood Watch on their block.
This meeting will be held on Thursday December 4, at 7:30 p.m. at the
DeHart Center.

Lt. Tracy from the Maplewood Police Department will conduct the meeting.

Members of the Midland Park Neighborhood Association have identified safety
as the number one concern for our group to address. This orientation
meeting will help all of us understand ways in which we can be more
pro-active in improving the quality of life on each block in our
neighborhood.

The Neighborhood Watch Program is designed to put neighbors in touch with
neighbors to keep an eye on each other’s homes, children and cars to ensure
that each are free of crime so that our blocks can be all that they can be.

This event is not limited to Midland Park Neighborhood Association members.
Please feel free to invite all of your neighbors! We hope to see you there.

ashear,

We are relatively new to Midland area and although we received the neighborhood association form to complete in order to join, we lost ours in the chaos of setting up our house. We have been the victim of crime already since we moved there and 1) would like to know where we can get paperwork again to join the neighborhood association and 2) can we attend this meeting even though we are not members yet?

Thank you.

HS:

Welcome to the neighborhood. Please come to tomorrow night's meeting, as being a member of the MPNA is not required.

Of course, you are more than welcome to join the MPNA as well!

Terrible news that you have been touched by crime already...we'll be interested to hear your story and hopefully you can participate in the watch program on your block.

Best,

Shaun Chalk
Chair, MPNA Safety Committee

Thank you Shaun.... if work does not keep us toiling away until too late.... we will definitely be there. We would be more than happy to participate in a block watch. If we are unable to attend due to work, who would we contact to become a member of the neighborhood association?

So having posted this, I did not actually make it. Can someone fill us in on what happened?
