Bush's quote today: "We'll pursue more energy close to home in our own country and in our own hemisphere so that we're less dependent on energy from unstable parts of the world," the president said. Hmmmm...I wonder why certain parts of the world are so unstable? I guess this means we are going to now screw up Alaska as badly as Iraq, or we are going to invade Canada.

Innisowen - are you referring to Bodman? What are the problems with him? I haven't researched much, but what I've read shows good qualifications and doesn't bring up controversy. |

Bodman is all about free markets. You know, the idea that companies should be left to govern themselves, because what's good for corporate America is good for everyone. He has a good amount of government experience, but no energy expertise, but that's not required when all Bush needs is another sycophant. Most of his career has been in the chemical and financial service industries. Honestly, we could do worse. It's good that he knows his way around D.C. and politics. But it would be nice if the guy knew something about energy or nuclear weapons. Bodman has made a statement or two about getting the country less reliant on foreign energy supplies, but has not given any details that I am aware of. He is expected to help implement Bush's stupid plan to get oil in ANWR.

Imagine where we'd be if we had the $150 billion from the Iraq boondoggle to invest in alternate energy R&D. We'd probably have cold fusion by 2020 rather than 2050. |
